Pippa El-Kadhi Brown is a London-based artist with an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in 2022 under the Ali. H Alkazzi Scholarship Award, following a BA in Painting from the University of Brighton, School of Art.
Working primarily in oil, Pippa creates expansive, dreamlike worlds that hover between figuration and abstraction. Her paintings act as portals into the subconscious, drawing on memory, sensation, and lived experience. Forms emerge from layered surfaces to create vast psychological landscapes that are playful, atmospheric and otherworldly.
Volcanic in nature, her paintings gurgle, swell, and spit things up from beneath. Playing with the mind’s eye as a tool of enquiry, Pippa uses painting as a form of excavation by pulling sensation from below the surface and translating the human psyche into dense, dreamlike terrains; otherworlds which are drunk on the spirit of childhood and romanced by the knotty logic of dreams.
She builds layered dancing dreamscapes where the unconscious ‘thingness’ of being—grainy textures of clunky video games, faded 90s bedsheets, meteor showers, and the twisting movement of cool air-collapse into one another and erupt. There’s romance, anxiety, irony, humour, and an always-lurking hum of nostalgia.
Pippa has exhibited widely both in the UK and internationally, including in Dubai, New York, Paris, Seoul, Taipei, Mexico City, Shanghai and Beijing. Recent highlights include a solo booth with Ed Cross Fine Art at the British Art Fair, Saatchi Gallery, London, 2026; NADA NY 2026 with SARAHCROWN; Stranger Skies, a solo exhibition at Holden Gallery, Manchester, 2025. She has an upcoming exhibition with SARAHCROWN in New York and a forthcoming solo exhibition with Tabari Artspace in 2027.
Pippa was awarded the Freelands Foundation Painting Fellowship at Manchester School of Art (2024–25) and has undertaken several international residencies including Palazzo Monti, Brescia; Tabari Artspace’s La Serena Residency, Tuscany; and the Organhaus Residency, Chongqing. She has also been awarded the prestigious Ali H. Alkazzi Scholarship Award, The Freelands Fellowship Award, Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize, Art Pegazs Taste of Life Award and Creekside Studio Award, alongside being a Bloomberg New Contemporaries and Chadwell Award finalist.
