PATRICK O’REILLY

 

Patrick O’Reilly (b. 1957, Kilkenny, Ireland) is a highly acclaimed Irish sculptor who studied at the Belfast School of Art.

 

Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has established an international reputation for his distinctive and imaginative work, exhibiting widely both in Ireland and abroad.

 

O’Reilly’s sculptures are deeply personal, combining philosophical reflection with a strong emotional undercurrent.

 

His work often explores themes of human experience, memory and connection, resulting in pieces that are both thought-provoking and immediately accessible.

This balance of concept and feeling has made his sculptures resonate with a broad audience.

 

He is also widely recognised for his large-scale public commissions, many of which have become familiar and much-loved features within the Irish landscape.

These works demonstrate his ability to translate intimate ideas into powerful, monumental forms.

 

O’Reilly’s work is held in important public and private collections internationally, and in 1996 he was awarded a major solo exhibition at the Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery in Dublin. He has received numerous accolades, including the RHA Sculpture Prize, further cementing his position as one of Ireland’s leading sculptors.

 

He has exhibited extensively in major galleries such as the Hugh Lane, Dublin; the Mayor Gallery, London; Galerie Vallois, Paris; the Friedman Gallery, New York; and Oliver Sears Gallery, Dublin.

 

O’Reilly lives and works between his studios in Dublin and Venice.
